Before being exploited for the exposition and the collection of Antonio da Sangallo's works and drawings, this museum was a real study and documentation centre about this famous Renaissance painter.
In fact, its location allows easy excursions to Sangallo's single works.
The museum path winds through many rooms on the ground floor of the Rocca dei Papi. The visit starts with a section of thematic character devoted to the presentation of the major Roman works of the architect to continue with the illustration of the techniques which characterise them. In each room visitors are presented with a photographic documentation of the original drawings and the plastic models of Antonio da Sangallo's most important works as well as the plaster casts of the design details.
