This museum is housed in the monumental Castle of the Farnese family which overlooks the historical centre of town of Valentano.
It is composed of three sections: Prehistory and Protohistory, Etruscan Age, Middle Ages and Renaissance.
In the first section you can admire an exposition of hand-made objects from Alto Lazio which date back between the Inferior Palaeolithic and the Iron Age. The Bronze Age is represented by the important nucleus of archaeological finds discovered in the lake-dweller settlements of Lake Mezzano: pottery, bronze swords and axes, ligneous tools.
In the Etruscan section visitors are introduced to an exposition of valuable cob and bucchero objects as well as ceramics.
Finally, in the third section it is possible to observe the rich collection of majolicas discovered in the "butti" (pits) among which particularly important is the trousseau of Pier Luigi Farnese and Gerolama Orsini
